FAQS

They didn’t pick up everything at the curb. Why?

There  may be several reasons for this. There are limits to how much trash you  place at the curb in a single day. Certain items, such as white goods  and yard waste, are only picked up one day a week. Contractor generated  waste is not picked up at all. Please click here to view the refuse  and recycling rules. If you think the collection company is in error,  please call the District at 883-4447.

The collection company didn’t come today. What do I do?

Was  your trash at the curb at 7am? If not, you may have missed your  collection. Trash and recyclable collection begins at 7am. Always have  your trash at the curb by this time as routes may change at any time.  The days your trash is picked up will not change. If you see that your  neighbors have also not been picked up, we suggest you call the  collection company directly for the fastest response. Dejana Industries  is the current contractor for the District. They can be reached at  944-3103. However, we also ask that you contact the District at 883-4447  so we are also aware of collection problems. We keep track of  complaints and use these to improve service.

Should I put batteries in the garbage?

Batteries  are not specifically required to be separated from your garbage,  however, there are places to recycle batteries. Alpers Hardware, 81 Main  St. accepts used batteries for recycling.

The collection company left a mess on my street. Who do I call?

For  fastest response, please call the collection company directly at  944-3103. We also request that you call the District at 883-4447 so we  are also aware of collection problems. We use these to improve service.

It's snowing, will the trash be collected today?

As  a general rule, if schools are closed, the trash will not be collected  and you should refrain from placing garbage at the curb. The trash will  be collected on your next regular collection day.

There is a predicted heat wave. Will my trash be collected?

For the safety of collection crews, when there is a predicted heat wave, trash collections will start earlier than usual.
